Lubricants

Glide, glide, glide... ah, lube.

It makes many types of sex even more amazing. The ass doesn't have much natural lubrication of its own, so by using lube, you're also being kind to the ass and reducing the risk of minor sores and damage to the mucous membranes inside. Lubricants can be used in other types of sex too, like masturbation and vaginal sex.

Generally speaking, there are two different types of lubricant: water-based lubricant and silicone-based lubricant. There are also lubricants that are a mixture of these two types. Water-based lubricants are thick and can dry out after a while, so you need to apply more if necessary. If the water-based lubricant dries out, you can often reactivate it with a little water or saliva.

Silicone-based lubricants are thinner, don't dry out and last longer, even if you don't use much. Silicone-based lube also works great as a massage oil. There's nothing like a hot massage as foreplay to get everyone ready. Silicone-based lubricant does not work with silicone toys. If you use them together, there's a risk that the toys will melt or the silicone in the toy will become porous. Both types of lubricant can be washed off with soap and water, although silicone-based lubricants are a little harder to rinse off. Some people prefer to use specific sheets or towels when using silicone lube to reduce cleaning.

Creams that contain grease (such as ointments, lotions, massage oils and other oils) weaken latex condoms and can cause them to break easily. Instead, it is better to use either a water- or silicone-based lubricant if you use a condom. If you prefer to use oil-based creams, you can always use plastic condoms; they are not usually available in regular stores, so you may have to order them online.

You can buy lubricants in pharmacies, online and in some supermarkets. Sex shops and condom shops generally have a larger selection. Feel around and try different types of lubricants to see what works best for you and the person(s) you have sex with.
